quotesA list of some of my favourite quotes

I love a good quote. They remind me that other people see the world in a similar way to me. I was the kind of teenager who inked song quotes in permanent marker on my bedroom walls, school bag and on birthday cards to friends.  Quotes from songs, books, poems and plays still bounce about my head every day, here are some of my favourites…

Quotes

  • ‘Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination.’ Oscar Wild
  • To die, to sleep. To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub. For in that sleep of death what dreams may come. When we have shuffled off this mortal coil.’ William Shakespeare, Hamlet
  • ‘Perhaps I write for no one. Perhaps for the same person children are writing for when they scrawl their names in the snow.’ Margaret Atwood
  • ‘You get ideas from daydreaming. You get ideas from being bored. You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we’re doing it.’ Neil Gaiman
  • ‘We are travellers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.’ Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
